INTRODUCING the 2024 COURSE!
The course builds on the experience of twenty years of the Scheggino Opera Summer School, alongside the experience of its internationally renowned maestri.
Students are invited to suggest their own repertoire for study and the administration will suggest ensembles, tailored to the needs and experience of each participant. During the week, students will receive vocal and musical coaching from Colin Baldy, alongside coaching from conductor Andrea Cappelleri. We are very lucky this year to be joined by Frederica Raja, who will give language coaching and Christopher Moon Little who will provide Stage direction. As the course is based in Italy, we provide Italian language lessons to enhance the authentic Italian experience. These lessons are tailored to individual levels of ability: from beginner to advanced.
Although the primary focus of the course is Italian opera of all periods, students are also encouraged to bring oratorio repertoire with them as there is usually an opportunity to perform this during the week. The course finishes with a staged and semi-staged concert of the repertoire studied during the week. It's a fantastic opportunity to show your newly acquired skills in front of an Italian audience.
The course cost of £1,000 includes all food and accommodation. Accommodation is provided in the form of shared twin rooms. There is a limited amount of single room accommodation available for a supplementary charge. Scheggino is well known for the quality of its food and participants can be assured that they will eat well during the week!
Please contact us for further details on the accommodation or with any food allergy questions or concerns.
